While the recent rain has been welcomed across the Rockhampton Region and has filled water supply storages, you are encouraged to continue your water conservation efforts and be aware of water restrictions still in place throughout the Region.
Capricorn Coast – Level 1 Water Restrictions
Rockhampton Regional Council has reviewed the water restrictions set for the Capricorn Coast and eased them to Level 1.
Since the recent rain, water consumption on the Capricorn Coast has fallen to below 10ML/day. Waterpark Creek is flowing well, follow up rain is likely over the next month as February is usually much wetter than January, and the Rockhampton to Capricorn Coast Pipeline is expected to be operational in March.
Under Level 1 water restrictions:
- No watering of any kind is permitted between the hours of 9am and 4pm
- Outside of those hours there are no restrictions on hand held watering and irrigation systems/sprinklers
- There are also no restrictions for recycled water or bores
Mount Morgan and Gracemere – Level 2 Water Restrictions
Water restrictions for Mount Morgan and Gracemere will remain at Level 2.
With our increasing regional population, there are problems with the current water infrastructure’s capacity to provide a satisfactory level of water supply. This means that when all water restrictions are removed it results in some areas receiving lower pressure and flow than is guaranteed in the customer service standards.
Fitzroy River Water (FRW) is serious about investing in a reliable and long term water supply, at the best value, for the people of Mount Morgan and Gracemere, and is working towards improving this water infrastructure and rectifying these problems.
Under Level 2 water restrictions:
- No watering of any kind is permitted between the hours of 9am and 4pm
Between the hours of 4pm and 9am, the following is permitted:
- Hand held watering
- Irrigation systems and sprinklers: odd numbered properties on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday; even numbered properties on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday
- Irrigation systems and sprinklers cannot be used on Mondays
- Those residents who use recycled water or bore water are not subject to these restrictions
